The Magical Effects of Music on the Brain – By Wendy Brown
Most people would agree that music can be very soothing. A lot of research has gone into the effects of music on the brain, and the results have been amazing.
Listening to music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure and pain, and improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness and memory.
For people with dementia, music can awaken the brain and give the person some clarity, and in some cases, enable them to communicate with loved ones again for a short period of time. This clip is an example of the magical effect of music on the brain.
Interchange Australia’s music program offers participants the opportunity to pursue their passion for music in the form of band, singing and guitar classes. To learn more about the music program and the positive health benefits it provides for participants, please call 1300 112 334.
