Laura is a sparkling young woman with a strong zest for life! Laura has received supports through Interchange Australia over the past decade to increase her independent living skills through a range of supports including short-term accommodation, social and recreational activities.
Laura is incredibly proud of her recent cooking achievement of following a recipe and cooking an impressive homemade lasagne for her family. She is progressing with using different kitchen appliances and learning to use different methods of measurement including cups and grams. Laura takes great pride and pleasure in contributing to her family life by cooking for them and is also increasing her recipe choices to include different cuisines.
Another important part of Laura’s life is attending Interchange Australia’s wide range of exciting activities. Some of her most memorable outings have included Disney on Ice at WIN Stadium in Wollongong to “see all the Disney characters”, an ABBA concert at Taronga Zoo, Interchange Australia’s RockCan concerts, “a great night of dancing and seeing my friends on stage” and a recent Cronulla Sunset cruise were she enjoyed “seeing the sun set over the water and driving the boat!”.
Laura commenced work experience at the Interchange office recently and comes in to assists with administrative tasks on Fridays. Laura organises and collates essential office paperwork and her work is greatly appreciated by all of the office staff. Laura is now seeking part-time employment in another local office and we wish her well in finding a workplace that will greatly benefit from Laura’s work skills and cheerful friendly personality.
Interchange Australia congratulates Laura on her achievements and wishes her well as she continues to work towards her goals of obtaining a part-time job and increasing her independence to live a rewarding and fulfilling life.
