National Carers Week is held each year in October to acknowledge and celebrate the very valuable contribution unpaid carers make to their communities right throughout the country.
This year, National Carers Week is being observed between Sunday 13th and Saturday 19th October.
According to Carers NSW Australia, 2.7 million family and friends provide 36 million hours of unpaid care and support every week to family members or friends who are frail, have a disability, a terminal illness or chronic condition, mental illness or alcohol/and or drug dependency. The value of this care, if carried out by paid support workers is $1.1 billion per week.
Interchange Australia see the outstanding contribution that carers make towards their loved ones on a daily basis and understand the vital role they play in the life of their loved one.
One of the services that Interchange Australia offers that is of benefit to both carers and clients is short-term accommodation. We provide a wide range of short-term accommodation options both through the week and on weekends at Springett House in Burradoo.
Whilst clients are in short-term accommodation, they socialise with peers and participate in a variety of fun, exciting and engaging activities and outings, all under the care and supervision of our dedicated and experienced staff. During short-term accommodation, parents and carers can get some much needed rest to pursue their own hobbies and interests and to refresh and recharge.
On Wednesday 30th October, Interchange Australia is hosting an information session that will feature a presentation by our Consultant, Genevieve Vel, about all of our short-term accommodation services. The session will also feature a presentation by a carer of one of our clients who will provide an insight into their experience raising a child with a disability and the positive experiences they have had with our short-term accommodation services.
The information session will be held between 3:30pm and 5:00pm at our office located at 3 Forest Lane, Bowral.
Bookings are essential. To register, please email our HR Manager, Alastair Orr: [email protected]
